Caterpillars and Cupcakes

We were walking home from dropping Hayden off at school when Hudson says to me, "Mom, I got an important job for you."  "Oh, yeah?" I reply.  "You need to make my caterpillars some cupcakes for their birthday's," he tells me.
After a lengthy discussion regarding why Mommy was not going to be baking "strawberry peppermint" cupcakes, we settled on peanut butter banana cupcakes.  Apparently caterpillars really like banana's, just not as much as they like strawberry's and peppermint. I was glad Hudson was willing to settle for their second favorite.
So, our "preschool" for the morning entailed scooping, measuring, mashing and stirring.  It was glorious and by glorious I mean he didn't argue, put up a fuss or throw a tantrum.  It was one of those precious moments of mommyhood, where you actually FEEL like you are being the mommy you had always imagined yourself being.  Of course that feeling didn't last.  But it was a moment that Hudson and I got to share.  I didn't want to ruin the moment by taking out the camera, so I just took lots of memory pictures to remember it for always.
However, later on that evening I walked into the dining room and found this:

I just had to take an actual picture of this.
Happiest of birthday's caterpillars!!
