It's the eve of Friday and this momma is pooped out. It all started last weekend when I lost the use of both my cell phone and camera. Two devices I rely upon probably a little too much (at least that is what my kids would tell you). It was an adventurous weekend. A quick recap: on Saturday the boys played their first "football game." I use quotations because it was more running, grabbing of flags and sometimes pant pulling than actual football and Hudson actually spent more time digging sticks into the dirt than play... but they had fun.
After the "game" we went out for lunch on the bay and practiced our table manners. We were able to see two submarines pull into the harbor. I happened to be more excited about this than the boys were. I got some cool pictures of the subs, but the memory card in my camera failed and I lost all the pictures... including a picture of me and Hadley at the park that I absolutely ADORED.
On Sunday we headed to the North Shore. Per the recommendation of our awesome neighbor Renae we stopped at the Dole Plantation. We did the tourist thing and rode the train, weaved through the maze and ate Dole Whip (pineapple ice cream that is to DIE for!). It was a quick and fun afternoon. I cannot wait to head back to the North Shore and actually see the area. It is a beautiful area.
Hayden started school "officially" on Tuesday. He did well. Hudson and I found plenty to keep us busy. Including keeping sick baby Hadley comfortable. Baby girl caught some awful bug and spent three full days with her first fever. Poor thing was completely out of it. Today she finally was well enough to head to the pool with us.
Hudson was relieved to get out of the house. He really was a trooper this week. I think he likes spending one-on-one time with me. (Which comes as a relief because quite often I am the target of many rages.) Hud and I spent the week continuing on our letter "A" lessons. We studied airplanes and ant's (Did you know that there is a kind of ant that can actually build homes out of glue?!). He loves snuggle story time. He will sit with me and read for over an hour, it is one of his favorite things. He does need a little friend though. He was so so sad today when we stopped at the park and he realized there were no kids there, saying, "I don't want to be here if there aren't any friends for me momma." Oh, my heart tugging little man. We did set up a potential play date with one of Hayden's classmates little brother. Hudson has asked me when we are going to get together with them at least ten times today.
Tomorrow is a down day for us. Hayden doesn't have school. It is Statehood Day. I guess that is a holiday here. I am hoping the holiday means that we all get to sleep in. I could really use an 8am wake up call.
Well, that is all from Team Honeycutt for now. Hopefully I will get my camera fixed here quick so I can get back to my obsessive picture taking. Love you all and miss you terribly.
