Noodles and Company

Hayden and Daddy were at the pool tonight for swimming lessons.  Hadley was down to sleep already.  It was just Hudson and I.  We had a conversation.  It went something like this:
Hudson:  Mom, I am hungry.  I want some noodles.
Me:  Well, daddy is bringing you back a Sub sandwich.  Wait 'till then.
Hudson:  I want noodles.
Me (not wanting to argue because I was hoping to get the house picked up): Okay, fine.  I can heat you some up, but I still want you to try and eat what daddy brings.
Hudson:  Okay. I want my noodles plain.
Me (after checking the fridge):  How about noodles with soy sauce?
Hudson:  Okay, I like soy sauce.
-So, I heat them up-
Me:  Hudson, come get your noodles.
Hudson:  I want to sit on your lap and eat them.
Me:  Really?  I want to get the dishes put up.
Hudson:  (doesn't say anything)
Me:  You know what?  I can clean up anytime. Let's eat noodles together.

We sat down together to eat. And Hudson gave me the most therapeutic part of my day.  For 20 minutes it was him and I, just talking about mostly nothing.  We snuggled over noodles.  He was fantastic company.

I am beginning to see that my children are my gift.  And far too often I leave them just waiting to be opened.

Thanks Hud.  Mommy loves you even more than you love plain noodles.
