We found the Target. And all is well with my world again. It is a huge Target, filled to the brim with colorful Hawaiian colors, hula doll souvenirs, a Starbucks with $28 coffee beans (yeah, you read that right!) and the Dollar Spot. Because what is Target without a Dollar Spot? I firmly believed that they (the unseen gods of the red bulls eye logo) strategically placed those things at the entrance of every store as a means of controlling temper tantrums during lengthy shopping excursions. Mom's all day, every day can be heard bribing their children as they walk through the parking lot and into the store... "If you are good I will let you get something from the Dollar Spot."
I am no exception. I am not above bribery. Hayden chose some blow up swords. Hudson chose a carrot shaped rubber baster. Yes, a baster as in the kitchen tool used for spreading juices on food. He said it was for his caterpillar. Grandma chose a Starbucks Mocha that was definitely NOT from the Dollar Spot.
While the boys played outside in the pool that grandma got them at Target, I got some doctor appointments scheduled, located Hayden's new school and called a few preschools to investigate for Hudson. It felt good to check those tasks off my to-do list.

Hayden's future school, practically just outside our back door. |
Fun quote of the day came from Hudson. We were outside getting ready for a walk to the park when some neighbor boys rode up to us. Hudson calls out to them in his bike helmet and upside down sunglasses, "Hi, my name is Hudson and I am more than just a super hero." I just about died laughing. Hayden swooped in to try and normalize the whole situation and told the boys, "Oh that is my brother, he can be pretty funny sometimes." Love them.

Slowly we are getting more comfortable here. Getting to Target got me feeling a little more on target... pun intended. Funny how doing something routine and familiar can make you feel just a little more at home.

The boys "taking a rest" on our walk yesterday. They are certainly feeling more at comfortable here too. |
