We get 8 full days with Uncle D and Tashie.
Day 1 went something like this:
*Hiked the Pillboxes in Lanikai... gorgeous as always.
*Hurried back to the car to assist a boy with a bowel emergency, with no bathroom anywhere to be found... a mommy first for me.
*Ate at Cinnamons... Red Velvet pancakes and Macadamia Nut Cinnamon rolls... YUM-O!
*Attempted to find beach parking... epic fail. Oahu on a holiday weekend is a pain. Just sayin'.
*Drove home, but first stopped at McDonalds for the sick boy who just wanted "some fries."
*Picked up Hadley from home and hit the Hickam beach.
In the midst of all that beauty and all that good food my favorite part was watching my boys play in the water with Uncle D and Natasha. David and Tash have never been to Hawaii before, they have every right to spend all their time exploring and sight seeing and adventuring. And yet, here they are, at Hickam Beach with my kids, enjoying it as if it were the top rated beach on the island (which it is not).
When I watched them playing with my kids, the reality of how much they love my babies hit me. It is a reality that humbles me.
